Selecting FTP images to server

1. Before FTP will work you must select .jpg format.

Press the configure button along side the Save to Drive settings.

The first stage you must perform is in the Save to Drive settings where you must select .jpg and your desired compression which is normally default to 70% (Avoid a higher setting when using FTP).

You need to do this because although the images are not being saved to your hard drive permanently we must specify the image compression and style for temporary storage on the hard drive whilst the image is being uploaded.

This temporary image is automatically deleted from your hard drive when it has been uploaded.

2. Making the Selection

Now press the configure button along side the FTP check box. The screen below will now be revealed.

3. Here are example FTP settings when uploading images to a Sun Microsystems RAQ3 server

Host is the name of the domain name which normally starts ftp.mydomain.com

User name and password are the normal settings that only you will normally know.

Server directory is often a tricky one to identify and is normally provided to you by your host supplier. In this instance our server Directory where we want our images sent to is...

/home/sites/www.stealthbigbrother.com/
web/sbbimages

You will need to ensure that you have created the directory images on your server using an ftp package and in this instance to view the images you would enter http://stealthbigbrother.com/sbbimages

Please note: this will most certainly be different for your server and information your service provider gives you will almost always include your server directory or root address.

4. Check the FTP box

Now check the FTP box and click Close.

At this point you can also choose to play a sound when the system is tripped. This could be the sound of a camera taking a snap shot, a .wav music file or a barking dog sound to help deter any potential burglar. You can search for sound files using the ... button.

The number of images that you are able to upload depends entirely on the time taken for your server to respond to a log on request and the speed at which the image can be uploaded.

If you purchase web space from AEI using any one of the domains featured in the above image then the domain settings will be automatically created for you.
